reserved account

an account subject to reserve requirements determined by the Federal Reserve Board. The rules require financial institutions to set aside (not invest) a portion of funds in such accounts as reserves to meet depositors' demands for cash withdrawals. The reserves are deposited at a Federal Reserve Bank or held as cash.
